Upcycling is the latest trend when it comes to recycling and being green — it’s all about the UPGRADE! (SO Holly Would glam!) You already upcycle when it comes to your closet and home decor so why not take this trend to the food on your table?
I’m all about leftovers — they make for the perfect finished home cooked meal when I come home after a long day at the office. I always try to find a way to reuse my leftovers so I’m not stuck eating the same thing for two or three days in a row. Upcycling leftovers can be as easy as adding a new sauce! I went green with my greens by Hollyizing a recipe for a Hollandaise sauce I found in my new cookbook to go with leftover roasted asparagus from dinner last night. Look how easy and fabulous upcycling can be!
Need:
.5 cup silken tofu (in the Asian food section if you shop at Whole Foods)
Lemon juice from 2 lemons
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
.5-1 tablespoon turmeric
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
.5-1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
Hollyized Steps:
First open your package of silken tofu and drain all the water. Take half a cup of the tofu and place it on a small plate or bowl. Microwave for approximately 35 seconds.
Then put the hot tofu into the small bowl of your food processor using the small blade. Leave on until the tofu is a smooth white.
Add the cayenne pepper, turmeric, yeast, lemon juice and oil into the food processor with the tofu.
Combine all ingredients by pulsing the food processor for approximately one minute.
Simply serve over your recycled greens and you’re done! Who said being a hippy couldn’t be fabulously glam … or tasty?!
