HAPPY NEW YEAR! I had a quick but fabulous trip to ring in 2014 with some of my best friends, and I hope you all did the same!
The start of a new year allows you to look back and reflect on the past year… for Holly Would Life, 2013 was full of fun memories and tasty dishes! Of course I had to do a HWL Foodie Review! Let’s be honest: my lack of blog updates this year was due eating out WAY more that meals cooked at home. So, here are six of my tasty adventures:
Stampede 66: a Southern dinner of bacon-wrapped meatloaf and mac & cheese with the girls! I may have had to spend an eternity on the treadmill due to the decadence, but it was well worth it! Bonus: we got to meet Stephen Pyles, the Executive Chef! (Foodie Dream!)
Salty Sow: a hipster-chic spot with delicious food! I ordered the steak topped with amazing mushroom sauce after a long day at SXSW! The beets (not pictured) were also to die for!
Mercat Bistro: tasty and delicate summer crab cake dinner in the cutest little French-inspired spot!
Abacus: a fancy pants dinner of lobster shooters (not pictured) and Chilean Sea Bass! Fun fact: Tre Wilcox of Top Chef fame was the former chef here.
Smyth: a swanky secret bar with amazing personalized cocktails and a retro atmosphere! Loved this place! (Sad that it is currently closed due to bartenders walking out — such a cool concept.)
Savor: a new metropolitan spot with modern twists on classic dishes like shrimp and grits and a seasonal spiced pumpkin trifle for dessert! The chic glass walls and the KWP views make you feel like you’re in the Big Apple. P.S. the Lobster puffs (not pictured) are a MUST for an appetizer!
Again, Happy New Year to you! Cheers to another great year full of foodie adventures and more frequent blog updates! (Pictured: post-Mavs game Hot Apple Pie cocktail from one of my most favorite spots, The Mansion Bar!)
