coffee cat.

After such a fabulous afternoon tea I experienced over the weekend, I decided to continue treating myself! Life is all about the little luxuries, right? πŸ™‚

I played copy cat to The Adolphus and treated myself to some coffee and Sprinkles after a delicious winter dinner of spicy kale, roasted eggplant and portabella soup. My good friend Mr. HB has known me and my Starbucks love aka addiction (I would be sent to rehab if coffee were a drug) for a long time. He gave me a coffee lover’s dream for Christmas… a Bodum French press! This is mine! Isn’t it pretty?!

Apparently, this is the best way to make coffee and extract all the flavor from the beans. (Have one sip and you’ll agree too! I admit I was a tad skeptical at first.) Let me show you how easy it is to use this fabulous contraption!

For drinking an 8 oz. cup of coffee, you’ll need:
8 oz. hot water
2 scoops coffee (if you buy your beans at Starbucks, ask them to grind for a French Press)
Sweetner and fixing of your choice

Hollyized Steps:

Add the coffee grounds to an empty press.

Heat water in the microwave (time saver!) and then add to the coffee grounds.

Cover the French press with the lid with the plunger still held up. Set a timer for four minutes and let the coffee and water sit.

Then, push the plunger down. Make sure the spout is open (mine has a little arrow) and then pour the coffee into your favorite mug. Miranda used her Harvard Law School mug and I am all about my sorority mug I got from my Big fish year of college! πŸ™‚ Serve with your favorite treat (Vegan Red Velvet cupcake) and enjoy how fabulous the coffee smells AND tastes! Doesn’t it feel like you are in your favorite coffee shop?!
