My New Year’s resolution this year was to be more creative. My job can be stressful at times, and I think creativity helps with relaxation and forces you to maintain an imagination. I’ve been working on an embroidery project since January (it is SO close to being done!), but I’ve always wanted to try glass blowing.
Two of my friends were great sports and came to a glass flower class with me at Dallas Glass Art over the weekend. We had a great time! It truly was the coolest experience! The class was very hands-on, which made it worth it. My friend Miss M said it best: You mess it up and they fix it! 🙂
Here’s a look at the process to make a glass flower:
I picked up my flower today! Once you’re done, they have to put your creation in the oven to cure for a little while. This is my finished creation with multi-color on the outside, and white stamped inside!
I highly recommend taking a glass blowing class, and will definitely be taking more. If you take a class, be mindful that it is VERY hot in the studio working in front of the fire. You have to wear long pants and closed toe shoes for safety reasons — be prepared to feel like you’re in Bikram yoga.
Have you taken a creative class? If so, what skill did you try?
